Non Competitive Sports ?

My Business partner just attended his daughters Sports Day which was the first at her school of the new breed of Non Competitive Sports Days.

I was intrigued as to what this actually meant so I did some digging about. Basically it seems to entail wondering about whilst your child performs certain tasks for which they get points that are added to a class, house or years total. There is no tracking as to who contributed what points so no individual child is a winner or a loser.

This is a new depth of insanity, life is about winners and losers and if the education is going to teach our children only one thing it should be that to excel in something over others you have to be a> good at it and b> dedicated to success. How can this be taught if there are no winners or losers ?

So despite the natural assumption about the chances of us getting any medals in the Olympics when this generation come of age, what does this do to our future businessmen and pioneers of science and discovery ? In a world where there is no such thing as being a winner what would be the point in trying to excel ? School is that world when you are a child and it seems that they want everyone to be average.
